For most computers the DLGDIAG Extended Test takes 30 minutes to an hour to test one drive.The Quick Test option may not be available on earlier IDE drives, SCSI drives and external drives. For maximum confidence, the Extended Test is recommended. The Quick Test can determine with a high level of confidence that a drive is defect-free in a short amount of time. The Quick Test is designed to intelligently gather and verify all of the Data Lifeguard information contained on the drive.In addition, it can provide you with the drive's serial and model numbers. The utility can perform drive identification, diagnostics, and repairs on a Western Digital FireWire, EIDE, or USB drive. This proves that WD Data Lifeguard Diagnostics cannot be relied upon when it reports that the drive is perfectly healthy. A third party tool however confirms that the drive has logged the problem in its SMART records.There are no "reallocated sectors" (sectors which have been found to be damaged, and have been moved) and no "current pending sectors" - bad sectors which are awaiting reallocation, if possible. Interestingly though, the SMART information for the drive is completely clear of any problem whatsoever.WD DLG gives the hard drive an overall "Pass" status on health, which is possible and may be accurate if the drive has not reached the SMART warranty threshold.This system has experienced problems accessing blocks on the second drive in the system.This means that using the DLG tool and getting a perfect, clean bill of health from the tool may not provide an accurate assessment of the drive's health.
